Breakthrough

Last week, we walked into a new season…a season that we had been praying and believing for. We were excited to hear the news. We were grateful that God had heard our cry…that He had answered our prayers. But at the same time, there was a bit of uneasiness that came with the moment.

Answered prayers come with the uneasiness of change.

And, this is something that I was not prepared for. If you know me, you know that I do not like change. I like plans. I like schedules. I like predictability. But, every new season comes with change. And honestly, this frightened me a bit.

I began thinking through all the changes that we would have to make. Our schedules would have to change, and on top of that, we needed to factor in the kids and their needs. Would we be able to pull off this new assignment with the resources that we have? Would we be able to make time for our other obligations? Not knowing the answers to these questions is what worried me the most. But, nevertheless, I decided to trust God…and He blew my mind.

Despite my reservations, our transition went smoothly. Everything I worried about was already taken care of. I didn’t need to worry about our children. I didn’t need to worry about our schedules or the required provision. This last week has proven to me that God prepared for it all.

God prepares the way for our breakthroughs.

This is what the Lord says: “I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness— secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name. (Isaiah 45:2‭-‬3 NLT)

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT)

Why is this important for us to know?

Because, fear of the unknown is what keeps many of us from stepping into purpose.
When God calls us to step into purpose– when He wants to do something new in our lives– the first thing we want to know is how? How will this work? How can I possibly do this impossible thing that you are calling me to do, God? And when we don’t have the answers, we allow our fears to keep us from the amazing life that God has called us to.

Provision comes after we walk into our breakthrough.

God isn’t going to tell us how before we take the leap of faith. He tells us how as we take the leap of faith. This means that we must be willing to walk in uncertainty…clinging on to the word of the Lord.

For we walk by faith, not by sight. (II Corinthians 5:7 NKJV)

When we walk by faith God allows us to see the unseen things that He had planned for us all along.

while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (II Corinthians 4:18 NKJV)

Provision for purpose lies in the unseen realm.

We won’t be able to see how we will get there. But, we must know that our God prepares the way for us.

Has God been calling you to step out in faith and you aren’t sure if you have what it takes? If so, I want you to know that you aren’t supposed to have all that you need. You aren’t supposed to have all the resources. You aren’t supposed to have all of the talent, knowledge, or strength that you need. If you did, you wouldn’t need faith, and you wouldn’t need God.

But, the good news is that you will have Him with you every step of the way.

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. (Psalms 139:7‭-‬10 NKJV)

The Lord is with you. He will never leave your side. He is the one that has protected you your entire life. He has gotten you here, and He will ensure that you walk in your purpose prepared and protected. As you continue to acknowledge His will for your life, He will surely lead you in the path that He has for you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 NKJV)

Now, maybe you aren’t there yet. Maybe God isn’t currently calling you to a new season, but, maybe this is what you’re believing for. If so, you’ve been in a place of waiting. You’ve been praying and seeking guidance. Maybe, you’ve been believing for a breakthrough, but it feels like it will never come. If this is the case, I want you to know that when it’s your time, your breakthrough will be quicker than you can imagine.

Many times, we lose hope because we’ve been waiting on God for so long. And then, it gets to the point where we feel like our breakthrough is out of reach. I have been there many times before. I was just there a couple of weeks ago, but I had no idea the plan that God had for my life. While I was losing heart, He was making a way. He was crafting the plan for everything that I was believing for. He was making sure that all my needs were provided for in advance. But that’s not the crazy part. The crazy part is that our lives were changed overnight.

Maybe you’re reading this, and you need more to convince you this is true. If that’s the case, I encourage you to turn to the word of God. Read about how Moses went from being a shepherd to being the leader of God’s children overnight. Read about how Joseph went from being a prisoner to being the second in command of Egypt overnight. Read about how Elisha went from being a farmer to being called to succeed Elijah overnight. Read about how the disciples were called to leave everything so that they could follow Jesus overnight. And read about how Paul went from being a murder to being an apostle of Christ overnight.

These are just a few examples that are well known in scripture. But if you read the story of God, you will see that He changes things overnight.

Your breakthrough is closer than you think.

I know it feels like you’ve been waiting and waiting on God. But just know that as you’re waiting, He’s moving. He’s preparing your promise. He’s molding you for purpose. He’s aligning your provision, so that you’ll have everything you need. When you get there, you won’t have to stress about how you will walk into your breakthrough, because He’s preparing the way.

Today, make the decision to continue your walk with Him. No matter how long it takes…trust Him…wait for Him. Do not give up believing for your breakthrough. I know it feels like you’ve been waiting for a lifetime, but the word of the Lord never fails. If He spoke something over you…believe it…have hope for it. I promise, He will blow your mind. You will see how faithful He is. You will see how great He is. You will see that He makes a way where there is no way. Choose to put your hope in Him today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, this journey has not been easy. There have been times when I have become weary. There have been times when I wanted to give up. But today, I have been reminded that you are faithful, and your promises are true. I have been reminded that I can trust you. So today, I am making the decision to fix my eyes on you. I will walk by faith, not by sight. I will trust you, even when my situation looks nothing like my promise, because you are a good God. I believe that you are always with me. I believe that you are for me. And I believe that as I wait, you are moving in my situation. I love you, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
