Created for Purpose

As I stepped into this season of calling I did so with a bit of hesitation. I questioned whether I was capable. I questioned whether I was making a big mistake.

“Is this real? Am I really in this place…a place where I never imagined that I would be? Because I don’t feel ready, and I don’t feel prepared…”

I began suffering from what they call imposter syndrome. It occurs when a person doubts their abilities, skills, and their overall qualifications. It’s when that person doesn’t feel capable of standing in the same room as someone with much more experience. They walk in fear, afraid to step into their role, because they don’t want to be exposed as a fraud.

The truth is that imposter syndrome is more common than we think. Have you ever compared yourself to others? Have you ever felt like you weren’t good enough?

I spent some time with a good friend of mine over the weekend. She told me how work was going and that she sometimes feels like a fraud. She is suffering from imposter syndrome. There are times when she feels unworthy, and other times, she feels unprepared. But, the thing is that I have witnessed her journey. I’ve witnessed the years of training. I’ve witnessed the years of preparation, and I also know how long she had been praying and believing for this. So…she is most definitely prepared. She is most definitely capable. And most of all, she is definitely worthy.

You see she is looking at her qualifications all wrong. It wasn’t just the schooling that prepared her for this…it was the years of overcoming…it was the years of perseverance. Her walk with God qualified her…not a piece of paper…and most certainly not a person.

'“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” ' (Jeremiah 1:5)

God created us for a specific purpose.

His word says that before we were even conceived, we were set apart and appointed.

That means that we were born with the seed of purpose inside of us.

Even though I can’t see it…the purpose of God has always been inside of me.

Even though my friend can’t see it…the purpose of God has always been inside of her.

Even though you can’t see it…the purpose of God has always been inside of you.

And, as we journey with God, and as we trust Him by faith…He leads us towards that purpose, preparing us along the way.

Just as I have witnessed my friend's journey, I must remember my own. I must remember how the Lord trained me for this moment. I must remember the service. I must remember the sacrifice. I must remember the trials. I must remember the perseverance. The Lord allowed me to walk through my past seasons for a reason…and if I honor Him in this moment, none of it will go to waste.

I can boldly walk in purpose because that is what I’ve been created for. And, the same is true for you…

God created you for a specific purpose.

He created you with a specific plan in mind…

'For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ' (Jeremiah 29:11)

Even though it may not feel like it right now…you were created for a purpose. And the best part about it is that you don’t have to wait to walk in that purpose. You can walk in the purposes of God today.

Sometimes we think of purpose like the peak of a mountain that we are trying to get to.

But I want you to know that you are walking in purpose every day that you walk with God.

You are walking in purpose when you pray and believe.

You are walking in purpose when you struggle and persevere.

You are walking in purpose when you fail and persist.

Why?

Because you are exactly where He wants you to be…

'And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.' (Romans 8:28)

You see… in those seasons God is qualifying you. In those seasons God is preparing you. And in those seasons your seed of purpose is being watered and cultivated.

God uses all of your seasons to prepare you for purpose.

He has prepared me for this moment…and He will certainly prepare me for every season ahead of me.

Do you feel prepared?

Do you feel that you have been empowered to walk out this season with God?

Today, as I share my journey with you, I want you to know that you are not alone. Your Heavenly Father is right there with you. Leading the way. Protecting your path. Guiding you towards the plan that He’s always had for your life. You don’t have to become anything you’re not…just be you. Shine the light that He’s given you, and He’ll give you the power to do the rest.

'For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.’ (Philippians 2:13)

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me for your marvelous purpose, and thank you for giving me everything that I need to walk in that purpose…especially your presence. Today, I have been reminded that regardless of what I go through, you are molding me for the calling that you have for my life. And for that, I thank you. Father, I praise you. You are everything to me, and with each season of my life I will seek to bring you glory. Thank you in advance for what you have in store for my life. I love you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
