If God Said It, He Will Do It

As I sat there, with tears of joy streaming down my face, I remembered how far we’ve come. I remembered the times that I cried, prayed, and pleaded with the Lord to save my marriage. I remembered wondering if God would actually do what He said he would do. Because at the time, it felt pretty much impossible. It seemed like I was believing for something that was way beyond my reach, but here I am…here we are…whole…in love…and thriving.

If God said it, He will do it.

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19 NLT)

One of the hardest parts of walking in faith is continuing to trust God even when it seems like there's no way that it can work out. But my story is proof that nothing is too hard for God. My husband and I were separated for over 3 years. If you would have asked those closest to us the odds of us making it, they would have told you slim to none. And when I looked over the facts of our situation I felt the same way. How could God heal a marriage that was as broken as ours? How could God do a miracle when only one of us wanted one to begin with? The facts were not on our side. There was nothing to indicate that we would work out. But none of that means anything to God.

If you’re reading this, I want you to know that you can trust in God. You can trust the dream that He has given you. You can trust the word of healing that he has given you. Whatever he's put in your heart, you can trust it…regardless of what your situation looks like right now, regardless of the facts, regardless of whether or not it seems feasible, because none of that matters to God. He is not bound by facts. He is not restricted by the laws, commonalities, or traditions of this world. In His sovereignty, He can do whatever He wants to do, whenever He wants to do it. So If He said it, you can believe it. You can trust in Him.

“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! (Jeremiah 32:17 NLT)

The word that God gave you is like a seed.

“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22 NKJV)

It is vital that we understand this, because a seed will never produce a harvest immediately. Once planted, watered, and taken care of, the seed must first produce roots beneath the soil, before ever seeing the light of day. And this is what it means to receive a word from God. So often, we hear from God, and we expect to see the fruit of His word immediately. But God has established a principle on the earth.

There is a natural order…seed…time…harvest.

Maybe you’ve received a word from God, and you’re disappointed because you have yet to see the fruit of it. If so, I want you to know that it doesn’t mean that God has gone back on His word. Again, If He said it, He will do it. You just have to wait on Him.

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)

This is my absolute favorite scripture. It is the one that I repeated over and over again during the most difficult seasons of my life. But today, the Holy Spirit has shown me something new. He has shown me how this scripture resembles the growing of a seed…

Let’s look at another translation of this scripture so that we can gain another perspective.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NLT)

When we wait on the Lord (trusting in Him), we then find new strength…this is the process of growing our roots. We can’t grow above ground…flying on wings like eagles, until we have strong roots in the ground.

Waiting on God strengthens us so that we can sustain His promise.

If we want to fly, if we want to be a beautiful flower, we must first wait on God. We must first allow Him to strengthen us in the darkness of our fear and doubt, just as a seed is strengthened in the darkness of soil. Only in this place of waiting, can we gain everything that we need to receive the promise that He has given us.

Pain prepares us for promise.

Maybe this sounds like a cliche, but either way, it is true. We must face our fears while on this journey. We must allow God to comfort us through our sorrows. We must allow Him to shape us and transform us through each trial that we face…this is the only path that leads to promise.

God will ensure that His word comes to fruition.

The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” (Jeremiah 1:12 NIV)

I find so much peace in this scripture. We don’t have to worry about how everything will work out, because God is watching over our lives to ensure that it does. He's in charge…sovereign over all. He’s orchestrating our lives to fit His master plan…making sure that the good and bad work out in our favor.

So don’t worry. Don’t fear. Don’t stress about what He’s already taken care of. Instead, put your hope and faith in Him. Grab ahold of His word, and wait for it to come to pass…no matter how long it takes. Because if He said it, He will do it. His word never fails. Put your trust in Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for the word that you have spoken over my life. And thank you for reminding me that if you said it, you will do it. Today, I am declaring that I will put my hope in your promise. I will believe everything that you have spoken over me. I will trust your plan over my own. I will trust you, even when I can’t see how things will work out. And I will wait for you…no matter how long it takes. I love you Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
