Miracles out of Uncertainty

I’m looking at my situation, and I can’t figure out how to get to the place that I’m believing for. It seems impossible. Honestly, it’s discouraging. Everything in me is telling me that I’m headed towards the plan that God has for my life. But when I look at where I am now, I can’t help but to question this journey that I’ve been on. Am I on the right track? Did I make all the right decisions? Should I have taken a more surer route? All of these questions ran through my mind, and then the Holy Spirit spoke to me. He reminded me that I am exactly where I am supposed to be…in a place of uncertainty.

God performs miracles in places of uncertainty.

Just think of all the miracles you’ve read about in the bible. Did they occur in situations of certainty…scenarios where everything was figured out? No. Every single miracle was performed in an environment of uncertainty…a space where the desired outcome seemed impossible. Why? Because God wanted to get all the glory from the situation.

Let’s take a second and think of the story of David and Goliath. Why did God get the glory from David’s victory? Because the situation was uncertain. From the outside looking in, David was too small, inexperienced, and ill-equipped. There seemed to be no way that this young man could defeat a seasoned warrior–a giant…until the power of God showed up. The uncertainty of David’s odds left room for the glory of God to be displayed in the situation.

Uncertainty leaves room for God.

Are you in a season of uncertainty…a place where it seems unlikely that you will be successful…a place where all odds are against you? If so, you are in good company. David was in this same place, but he understood that it was a strength, not a weakness.

David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!” (1 Samuel 17:45‭-‬47 NLT)

The uncertainty of your situation is a strength, not a weakness.

Your lack of experience is a strength, not a weakness. Your lack of provision is a strength, not a weakness. Your lack leaves room for God. This is what He wants…to fill in the gap between your capabilities, and what He has called you to. I’ll prove it to you…

In the book of Judges we read about the story of Gideon and the 300. In this story, Gideon and his army were preparing to fight the army of Midian, but according to scripture, God thought that Gideon was too equipped for the battle. So what did He do? He intentionally stripped away the majority of Gideon’s army. God wanted to make sure that Gideon had a clear disadvantage, so that He could get all the glory from the victory.

The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. (Judges 7:2 NLT)

God cut Gideon’s army down to just 300 men. And with these men, He performed a miracle.

When the 300 Israelites blew their rams’ horns, the Lord caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other with their swords. Those who were not killed fled to places as far away as Beth-shittah near Zererah and to the border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath. (Judges 7:22 NLT)

Maybe you’re looking at your battle, and all you see is the disadvantage…the fact that you don’t have what you need to win. Maybe your victory feels impossible. But I want you to consider that maybe you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. Maybe you lack provision because God stripped it away. Maybe you lack strength for the fight because God stripped it away. Maybe He’s leaving room for His glory to shine through you.

The problem is that we put all our hope in the provision…whatever we have that can be seen with our natural eye. But our hope needs to be in the Provider…the one that we can’t see. He’s the one that makes miracles out of uncertainty. He’s the one that can take our impossible situations…our lack, and give us a victory that is unimaginable.

Uncertainty positions us for miracles.

If you are in need of a miracle, allow God to lead you to a place of uncertainty. Allow Him to lead you to a place where you feel weak, so that His strength can be displayed through you.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV)

Your ability to reach purpose and promise is not dependent on your strength, because you can only get there through His. Take your eyes off of your situation…off of the fact that you don’t have enough, and rest them on your Provider, because He has everything that you need. He will fill in whatever gap you need Him to, all He needs is your participation. So today, make the decision to place your hope and trust in Him. If you give Him your uncertainty, He will perform miracles in your life.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, today I am making the decision to put all my hope and trust in you. No longer will I fix my eyes on my provision, instead I will fix my eyes on my Provider. I will look to you, because you are where my strength comes from. I don’t need ability; I don’t need provision. All I need is you. I believe that you will give me everything that I need to be victorious. I believe that with you by my side, anything is possible. And I trust that as I bring my uncertainty to you, I will begin to see miracles in my life. I love you Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
