Right Place, Right Time

They say that being in the wrong place at the wrong time is just pure unlucky. And, well, whether you believe in luck or not is up to you, but when it comes to being in the right place at the right time, I'd say there’s nothing lucky about it…the grace of God is at work.

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. ‭‭(2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT‬‬)

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try… regardless of your faith, regardless of your effort… you just can't seem to win?

My husband and I have been together for almost 20 years, and until recently, this is how we felt. Regardless of how much faith we had, regardless of how hard we tried, we just couldn’t seem to catch a break. It was hard; it was discouraging, especially given the vision that God has given us. But this journey has taught me so much. I have learned how much I need the grace of God. In fact, I can do nothing without Him.

We need the grace of God to receive the promise of God.

No amount of effort will change that. No amount of skill will change that. No amount of planning will change that. We can not walk into the promises of God without His presence leading us there.

When we are accompanied by God, we have access to everything that we need. We won’t have to worry about whether we have enough resources. We won’t have to worry about whether we have the right connections. We won’t have to worry about whether we’re good enough or qualified.

When God says yes, nothing can get in the way.

I’ve told our recent testimony before. We received an answer to a prayer that we’ve been praying for almost 20 years, and we can’t take any credit for it. We weren’t qualified. We should have been turned away. But, we were simply in the right place at the right time. The grace of God did what we could not do for ourselves. God said yes that day, and there was nothing that anyone could do to stop it.

“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open:..‭‭” (Revelation 3:7 NLT)

If you are in a season of waiting on God, I have a message for you:

You don’t need more faith. You don’t need more effort. You don’t need more smarts or connections. You need to be in the right place at the right time. You need the grace of God.

‬‬
So, maybe you’re wondering…how can I ensure that I am in the right place at the right time?

The answer is…Obedience.

When we obey God, we are in the right place at the right time.

When I think of the importance of being in the right place at the right time, the story of Moses comes to mind…

If you’ve read about Moses’ story in the book of Exodus, you know that he was reluctant to obey God. He thought that he was unqualified for the assignment that God was calling him to, but God already had a remedy in mind.

But Moses again pleaded, “Lord, please! Send anyone else.” Then the Lord became angry with Moses. “All right,” he said. “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now. He will be delighted to see you. (‭‭Exodus 4:13-14 NLT‬‬)

Side note: Moses was worried about His qualifications, but God had already made a way for him to be successful, and He will do the same for you.

God will provide everything you need.

This includes provision, protection, assistance from others, etc. So, again, when He calls you, you don’t need to be concerned with what you have and what you don’t have. All you need to do is obey.

Finally, after going back and forth with God, Moses obeyed.

So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and headed back to the land of Egypt. In his hand he carried the staff of God. (‭‭Exodus 4:20 NLT)‬‬

Now the Lord had said to Aaron, “Go out into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So Aaron went and met Moses at the mountain of God, and he embraced him. Moses then told Aaron everything the Lord had commanded him to say. And he told him about the miraculous signs the Lord had commanded him to perform. (‭‭Exodus 4:27-28 NLT‬‬)

Because Moses obeyed God, he was in the right place at the right time.

The first time I read this passage of scripture, I was so amazed. Moses obeyed God, Aaron obeyed God, and because they were both in the right place at the right time, the will of God was fulfilled in the earth. Isn’t this what our faith is all about?

You are not on this earth by chance. Nothing in your life has happened by luck. The grace of God has brought you here to this very moment. Take advantage of it.

…At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” (‭‭Isaiah 60:22 NLT‬‬)

Keep praying. Keep believing. Never give up. If you place your trust in Him and obey His instructions, you will be in the right place at the right time. And, you will see the power of His grace work in your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for choosing me, and thank you for creating me with purpose in mind. Today, I have been reminded that I don’t have to worry about how I will do what you are calling me to do, all I need to do is be in the right place at the right time. All I need to do is obey. So today, Father, I am making a fresh commitment to you. I will fix my eyes on you. I will seek your guidance. And I will obey your instructions even when I don’t understand. I believe that as I put my faith in you, and as I follow you, I will receive your grace to do everything you are calling me to do. I love you, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
